High oil pressure?
Hi all,
Just started my fresh rebuild for the first time- all went pretty well all things considered.
However, the Oil pressure is bothering me - when warm it's reading about 3.5 bar (45-50ish psi) on idle (on OEM and aftermarket gauge) and spiking to 8 (~115psi) when I blip the throttle to about 3k or so - it then holds it.
My builder assures me this is fine, and I totally believe him, but I'm paranoid so I guess I need more people to tell me
It's a fresh rebuild with SCR apex seals, OEM side seals (0.07mm clearance), and pretty much everything else Mazda OEM (almost everything was replaced except housings, rotors, e-shaft, rotor bearings, and plates).
GT35r with a -4 feed line with a 0.063" restrictor in line. Drain is definitely clear.
No mods to the internal regulators.
Crankcase vent is connected to a catch can which is vented to air with the PCV valve in line, pointing the right way! Removing the oil cap/breather line makes no difference.
It's probably only done about 10 miles, am I being paranoid?
Could it be the filter (I'm using a factor's own brand)?
And if you read this Col, I'm not doubting you for 1 minute, I'm just really, really paranoid, and need people to tell me it's ok feel free to slap me tomorrrow.
Cheers all
Si

Sorry, should have said.
Yeah. it's an FD (1994 JDM)
Both regulators (the one in the front cover and the one in the sump) were reused. Pressure before the rebuild was a lot lower.
Before the build it used to read about 40psi on idle then slowly ride to about 7 bar at WOT and high revs.
Manual specifies > 50PSi at 3k IIRC. Well I've certainly got that!
Think I'm going to try a new filter as a first port of call. I've used these ones loads before though.

FD oil pressure control regs are 110 psi rated
all earlier mazda regs are 71 psi rated unmodified
