Here We Go, Another Newbie
Just bought a beautiful 93 RX7. She has 87,000 miles on her. I love the car, they are so much fun to drive and I get looks everywhere I go. I live in a town of 150,000 people and I'm the only one who has a red RX7 - there's a lot of respect that comes with that. Anyways, I purchased it for well under the book so that's all cool, and I'm very happy with it, I just have a few minor problems I need to work out. Here are some questions that I'd appreciate if you veterans would help me out on.
1) The car doesn't have cats on it, it has a straight dump, after some research I discovered that a minor 'miss' when it's boosting could be caused by the mixture running lean. I'd imagine that I need to get it tuned, how long of a time frame am I looking at before the engine is going to be in trouble?
2) The guy who had it before me ran synthetic oil in it, the 2500 mark is coming up so I was curious as to whether or not I needed to keep on running synthetic or switch back to normal. I've read on many different posts that synthetic in a Rotary is a big no-no. What do you guys think?
3) Here are a list of upgrades:
apexi blowoff valve
apexi air intake
3 inch racing down pipe
Greedy/Trust 3'' cat back N1 JDM version
momo steering wheel
momo shift ****
B&M short throw shifter
JVC cd player
drilled/slotted rotors
ebc red stuff brake pads
ss brake lines
-What am I missing? I feel like I'm losing some low-end somewhere, it's not getting up and moving as fast as I care for it to. What's the first step I need to take to make this car pull at least a 13?
4) Anything I'm going to need, not listed, immediately?
5) What's the best clutch for these cars, and what are my prices?
6) What is the difference between FC and FD, how much of a price difference is there?
7) I live in Texas, is Rotary Performance as good as everyone says it is?
8) The last time it was taken to be looked at, the compression was in spec, what in the hell does that mean?
9) What kind of good performance packages can I get, and where can I Buy them at?
