I just finished hooking up my direct fire and its not working right. The first time I started it, it barly ran so I messed with the timing untill it would idle. Its all the way advanced. Now it seems to run fine till I floor it, as soon as I do It starts cutting out. Whats going on? Its a 85 gslse with side draft mikuni's, header, everything that I dont need remove, electric fan.

 

You might get a quicker reply in the 1st gen section. Also, what type of direct fire? There are 2 or 3 versions that I can think of using different combinations of parts.

 

Is it with a 2nd gen coil? Check to see that the wires from the dizzy are not hooked up backwards. Thats what I did wrong with mine and exactly the way it ran till I reversed them.

The leading spark plugs each have their own coil directly connected.
