GSL-SE Oil metering pump--same as on later 13-B's?-
Just installed on of Richard Sohn's oil metering pump adapters (feeds 2-cycle oil from a separate reservior to the apex seals via the stock metering pump while blocking off oil flow from the pan) on my '85 gsl (12-A). Works as advertised, with no siphoning of oil into the engine when parked overnight. (this was a concern from some, since in theory it "could" happen). Richard's company, PCV Technologies, supplies adapters to fit both the 12-A and '86 and up 13-B engines, including one to work with the electric metering pump on S5 models.
My question is, does the metering pump for the SE 13-B engine differ in any way from the one found on later 13-B's?
I understand that the two engines have a different front cover, but not sure if that would have any bearing on the pumps. The SE 13-B has more in common with the 12-A in that water jacket seal grooves are cut into the rotor housings as opposed to the side housings (as is the case with later-model 13-B's). Therefore, it's even possible that the SE engine uses the same metering pump as the 12-A. (?) On the other hand, it could even use a metering pump common only to the SE 13-B engine.
Can anybody on here set the record straight? Richard had never had an order for one to fit an SE since many of his clients are aircraft builders who prefer the later 13-B, so he didn't know. Meanwhile, others may want to order a 13-B adapter from him for their SE. It would be a shame if the one they received didn't fit.
