Getting my fc started
Getting my fc started
I have had an fc for about 2 years. i bought it when i was 15 and im 17 now. It’s a 1987 rx7 fc turbo II. I rebuilt the engine and it has good compression. I put a microsquirt ecu in it and i have everything from rpm and all sensors working but i can’t get it to start. I’ve read and i think it’s timing but i don’t know. Basically when i crank it with fuel it fires and will fire about twice then in the third for it will rebound to the starter. Like it stops its self then starts cranking agin. It has small port done but nothing crazy. I used a timing light and the leading hit on the 5 degree mark. I’ll put my tune in if anyone wants to look at. It would be really nice if i could get some help getting my dream car running😂. and my dad because the yard ornament is gone.
I'm not familiar with micro/megasquirt ECUs but Ill give you some general tips.
*Confirm your timing. Since you have a CAS, you have limited options there.
*Check your plugs and wires. Make sure everyone is where it should be, and plugs aren't fouled.
*Check it over for big vacuum issues. Little ones will show up later with surging and bad idle.
*If it wants to start and its just not quite there it probably needs more fuel in some sort of "post start" table. (These cars like to be on the edge of flooding)
I hope this helps.
