Gas Mileage, what's normal?

I'm kinda new to the rx world but i've got a '91 with a racing beat cat back and a k&n cone filter, other than that i'm stock right now. temporary i assure you.
my problem is this. i'm only getting about 12-15 mpg and i know that cant be right.
does anyone out there have any suggestions on how i can improve my fuel consumption.
thnx

you can replace the fuel filter and clean the injectors. those 2 things should help some with fuel economy. also, how hard do you drive the car cuz that has a big effect on your mileage.

EDIT: also have you checked to make sure the spark plugs and wires are in good condition? if not make sure to do that.

Thanks for the post

any suggestions on fuel filters??

as far as how i drive, i know it is a bit harder than is necessary. but even when i slow it down and drive with less intensity my fuel consumption still doesnt improve a whole lot.

my plugs are fairly new (3 months) NGK's and i have a set of magnecore wires.

12-15 where? In town that isnt too unbelievable. If that is all you get on a road trip at 70 mph that is pretty bad.

well i don't really know much about fuel filters but i'm sure that any new one is better then what you have currently. next time you fill up you gas add some injector cleaner in with the gas. it'll clean out your injectors. i did that with my car. i think there is a write up somewhere on how to change the fuel filter. i've seen it floating around here somewhere. it isn't to hard to do.
