gas mileage?
gas mileage?
Hey, I own an 87 RX7 GXL and I hope that someone here can answer my question or at least make a few suggestions. My car is getting horrible gas mileage...I would like to know about how much its suppose to be getting or if there is something wrong with my car?
I think 17 to 18 is average for a healthy engine. If it is lower check your plugs, wires, fuel filter and air filter. You may want to look into a grounding kit of some sort, after so many years the grounds get corroded which can cause a host of problems.
I was getting around 17-18 when I first got my car. However, after removing my cats I started getting amazingly good gas mileage. I want to say I get at least 22-23 city, and problably around 30 highway. It's great. And I redline my car almost daily, and in daily driving 5k rpm is pretty standard. 230 mile tanks. It's great.

Mine was/is getting horrible mileage also, about 4L/Km (do the math yankee's :p ). I changed all the plugs, wires, fule filter (under hood, not in tank), o2 sensor, all fluids, and did the timing. Still getting horrible mileage, I think I've narrowed it down to a faulty Pressure sensor though. Voltage reading at the sensor is pretty whacked... Making my o2 sensor read rich 100% of the time. 4 (liters per kilometer) = 0.588036461 miles per gallon
Now that's **** mileage.
But, if you meant the inverse, google says:
4 kilometers per liter = 9.40858337 miles per gallon
I really hope you made a typo.
Next time, you do the math first
