firstgen 85 RX-7 not starting
hi i tryed to start this car before i payed for it, so i turned the key over and it just would not start even if i put gas down the carb, so i just payed for it and parked it for the winter, now i want start it so i dumped the 3 year old gas and put new gas in drained the fuel line to the carb, and installed new spark plugs, when i try to start it the RPM reads 1000-2000 but as sone as i put gas down the card it turns 3000 ish, but i never hear it start it just turns faster, some one toled me thers no compretion and that the readth valve is stuck open/craked or shattered, thats Y its not running? dose the sound like its the prob? o and when i did a compretion test with a regular guage it was reading 0 psi so, i think thats my prob how do i get to that valve?

the what valve???? you may want to pour some atf down the carb and let it sit over night. you know, the whole atf treatment. if you don't, go to the 1st gen specific section, do a search and re-post this there. it will get better hits and maybe someone can help you. as for me, i would check for spark. do you have spark? are yousure you are getting gas to the carb? next, check your float level. it should be half way up the sight glass on the front of the carb. you may need to clean it off to see. has timing been messed with? you may want to double check that. welcome to the forum. i hope you find some use out of this info. -dave
