FC3S Cold Starting

So usually when i started up the car the revs would go up to ~3000ish rpm for the warm up thing.

lately it doesnt go up that high (every so often it still does, however.) but the car doesnt have a hard time starting or anything and the car runs and pulls great.

was wondering if this is something to worry about?

Occasionally starting the car while in first gear rather than neutral?

I'm having the same thing happen, where my car used to do the cold start rev and now it doesn't seem to. I was just wondering what the neutral vs 1st gear difference is? My car will start and kind of choke out unless I manually create the cold higher revs for 30 sec or so, once its a little warm itll hold idle fine.

Is that the same prob as OP? different? I was about to make a thread on this haha

nahh always in neutral when i start it. like sometimes when i cold start it i feel like it wants to go higher but itll go to like ~2500ish rpms for a sec then drop down to above 1000 until warm.

just thought itd be some concern because it would do warm up rev thing for a little longer than that.

I've always started mine while in first, probably
half the revs one sees if starting in neutral.
That was an EPA requirement to warm up
the precat quickly by revving the crap out of
the engine when cold.

There is a thermo switch on the bottom driver side of the rad which signals the ECU to perform the 3K startup. Check the wiring and switch if you really care about the 3K startup.

Hello everybody, sorry for writting in an old thread.

Same problem here, my FC3S was making the 3k revving at cold start until last week.

Now it just starts and stays around 900rpm directly.

Is this the only switch that controls this revving? By rad you mean radiator?

Regards!

Yes, radiator.

The 3K startup is also disabled if you start the car in gear, so it could be a bad neutral switch as well.
