Engine will turn over but not fire. please help

OK! for the life of me...
lets start here, I purchased a 1986 Rx-7 GX
from an autowreckers for 600 dollars. I am
not naieve into buying a car that is hopeless
and this is why i purchased it. It turned over,
everything and i mean everything electrical
worked in it including power side view mirrors.
All engine components were present so I
thought it would be alot! easier! than it is!.

The spark plugs were done, so I replaced them,
still not igniting. replaced the old gasoline in
the engine, replaced the fuel pump because
afterwards i checked to see if it was working,
it was not. so i paid 250 goddamn dollars for
that and it turns out the wiring to the pump
has no power. **** off, so i booster the fuel
pump with another battery. worked fine and
it actually can get the car started long enough
for it to rev up to 2000-2500 rpm and it quits.

I've come to the conclusion there may be a
break in the wire. Or possibly the Computer is
toast? very effin hoping thats not the case.
Im one step away from taking it into the dealership
but i thought i should ask here first...

any other suggestions people?

Sounds to me like you have a massive vacuum leak somewhere. Check the vacuum lines and the gaskets at UIM and LIM. Crank and stall usually means a lot of unmetered air is getting into the system.

In the 1st gen archives there is a link to the online FSMs. Rotary refs is mentioned in the thread tittle. Download that and and go through the trouble shooting section on starting.

if you have no power to the wires its simple get power to the wires..trace them to were ever they go and if you cant find the break/bad point while tracing them i would just replace the wires

replacing the wires alone doesnt guarentee anything though...ive thought of it but if its something more serious like the ecu or something then ill have to replace that

is the engine flooded? pull the 40AMP fuse labled for fuel injection, crank the car for like 10-15 seconds(occasionally it may actually run) then turn the car off,put the fuse back in,and turn on your car, very common problem...

verry common fix

the fuse will be in the engine bay on the right side
