Downpipe installation

Could someone help guide me with the best way to remove the pre-cat system on a 93 rx7 twin. I'm ready to install a downpipe but want to avoid the headaches... let me know the steps to get there in the best way possible... thanks to all who will answer!

Charles

lots of wd 40 and its really straight forward you may want to start the nut that goes under the pipe first since you have limited access to it.

I used lots of PB Blaster, let it soak for a couple of days, then took a breaker bar to it. The breaker bar might have been excessive, looking back...

+1 for PB Blaster. When I did the DP for my FC I ended up fighting with it for 2 hours giving up and trying again in two weeks after running around with just the pre-cat feels like driving a semi-truck. But it was a lot easier for my FD. Fought with it for 30min with the PB, gave up for a week drove around with diesel truck status then hit more PB and attacked the pre-cat again then I won Personally I think the heat shields are more of a PITA than the DP.
