Could it happen???

Ok, the new RX-8 has a side ported N/A 13B right??? Could it fit into a FD?? How much do you think it would cost?? How hard would it be to do?? Just currious.....Just something to ponder.....

These questions are all over the place, and there just aren't any answers yet. I think, and have heard others say the same thing, that the plates and housings are the same and the only difference is port location. It would be too expensive for mazda to re-tool and create an entirely different set of plates, housings and rotors. So hopefully, the Renesis(if not the whole thing, then parts) will swap with previous rotary engines.

Am I the only one wondering why we couldn't just copy the side exhaust port timing of the Renesis engine and cut it into the side housings, weld the p-exhaust port shut, have Scalliwag resurface the side housings after all is done and have our own semi-Renesis rebuild port job? Oh wait, the water jacket. Nevermind

I was under the assumption that the renesis rotors would be a direct fit into the fd's housings but as for compression and all that I havent even started guessing...

to asses the viability of any renisis sawpping we need to see the motor mounts. also needed is a way to drive the throttle bodies, there is no cable
