Coolant in the oil pan???
Coolant in the oil pan???
Hello. I'm wondering if someone might be able to help me out with advice. A little less than 3 years ago I purchased a 13B engine/ tranny (93-95 range) for an engine conversion into a '69 Opel GT. It was a JDM unit from an Ebay store shown as having 36,000 miles. It's been a long term project and I'm just now getting ready to fire it up. I poured in coolant (just water for now) last week and it took more than I expected and didn't start showing in the radiator. I didn't have oil in the pan yet and decided to pull the drain plug. All the water ran out of the pan- not good.... I've pulled the pan and put in a little more water to find where it's running out at. It's coming from the mid plate on the passenger side where the port goes up into the engine further. I can't see up in there because of the way the casting is designed.
When I contacted the seller they basicly said- 3yrs., sorry. Not surprised at that.
I don't think it will matter, but I've done a single turbo upgrade because there was not enough room for the twin setup.
I've searched some and it appears that it may be coolant seals. Any other suggestions? I'm sure I'll have to pull the engine and tear it down, but would like to know as much as I can before hand- this is my first rotary.
Thanks in advance.

sounds like the center plate is broken due to freezing....
and the only way to fix this is rebuilding it...
FYI when you rebuild this engine make sure the front & rear plate are flat..
