CA Cold start = white smoke. Normal start = no smoke. Coolant seal or Condensation?

Hey guys got a 87 s4 that will smoke for like 5 minutes BIG TIME on a really cold start, 40-55 degrees, but then goes away just as fast as it shows up. Now throughout the day there is zero smoke on start up. SOOOOO what do we got here guys? Defective seal or condensation.

Also, i do run pretty damn hot. Ive been trying my best to cool it down but am i missing somethin?
-new radiator
-new two 10" 80 watt electric fans
-bleeding coolant
-gets hot on freeway too.
what the H man lol

thanks for any help

Its absolutely horrible on these cars to overheat, dont let it happen, the white smoke could be the result of it overheating. what is the smoke? is it white or blue? this will sound funny but taste it, if its sweet its coolent, if its blue its generly oil. Is it turbo? check to make sure its not fouling out your plugs too

I have changed my thermostat to a 180 or 170 I don't remember. It was the stock temp. Opening for my s4 NON turbo. And it's white not blue. I'm not burning of much oil at all.

you knew that was coming though.

block weld is temporary and will probably blow out as soon as you see miniscule amounts of boost and requires additional cleanup during the overhaul.

Engine rebuild is really the only way to fix it, or replace the engine with a good used one.

Running NA blocks are cheap , but you're still taking a gamble that the new will develop similar issues in the future, or already have them. It really depends on how well it was maintained and how honest the seller is.
