Clutch Pedal/Clutch master push rod issue...

This may be a unique problem for my 85 GSL-SE that I am at fault for causing. I won't bore you with how I did it (dumb me!!!), but I stripped the threads on the brass colored part that's attached to the clutch pedal. The clutch master cylinder push rod screws into that part (don't know the official name for it), and you screw that rod in or out to set your clutch free play. I need to remove that part so I can re-thread it. The part is held on by a "pin" that goes through the clutch pedal arm. On my brake pedal, it has (I think) the same style "pin" but it also has an obvious cotter pin holding it on. On my clutch pedal, I can not find any evidence of a cotter pin holding that little clutch push rod receiver, that the push rod screws into.(I hope this is making sense). I spent an hour wedged under the dash looking and feeling around the pin for maybe a broken and jammed in cotter pin but I can not feel or see evidence of it. (By the way, it's very painful under the dash, scraping my side on the door opening, my hands on the metal panels up there, straining my remaining eyesight, and swearing a lot at the car, which doesn't deserve it, and myself, who does deserve it).

I have a complete new replacement clutch push rod assembly (including the receiving piece that attaches to the back of the clutch pedal) ordered overseas, as a backup, but I won't get it for at least another week and my 7 is of course unusable until then. And it won't do me any good anyway if I can't figure out how to get the old part off.

So, this is a long way of asking: Has anyone else out there had this issue, and how the heck do I get that "pin" holding that part off the back of the clutch pedal so I can re-thread it or at least get the pedal ready for the new part when I get it????

If you've read this far, thanks, and I'll be grateful for any suggestions on how to get that ##!$$% part off!.

Mazda calls it a Fork, Clutch, 0259-43-140. the parts catalog picture is pretty bad, but it looks like there is a nut on the pin? its on the inside of the pedal, and then the pin just pushes out

40 years since I've had that generation rx7, but pretty much all mazdas have that clevis pin retained by circlip....and possibly a washer underneath, so you might have a hard time trying to find a split pin there. Hazy memory, the nut on the clevis of late cars might be brazed rather than welded, to give the brassy appearance in the vicinity, but wager it will be entirely steel. Doubt you'll be able to "rethread" a stripped nut either, assuming the pushrod still has good thread, you can replace the nut relatively easily with a brazed joint - if mazda has made the clevis NLA.
