cleaning carbon out

My friend told me to shoot carburetor cleaner through the vacuum hose to the booster. and keep the car at 2k or 3k on the rpms. Does this work? will it hurt any thing? I have some problems with carbon he said it would clean it out quick. I wanted to ask you guys first though.

use the water method pull a vacuum line leading to the intake and drop it into a bottle of water and hold it at 2k-3k and it will steam clean the carbon out

I read the website but how can this work. I thought water in a engine would kill it. Hydro locking I think it is called.

for a s4 there isn't one vaccum port that runs equally to the runners is there. Which vaccum ports would you use? i haven't put any thought into it but im sure if the questions answerd it will help the guy that started the thread out!

Can you do this with a piston engine too? Or just rotary? When you put it in the water do you put the whole vacuum line in the water or is there something special to do?

Sure, it will work. Try this: (this worked great on my FD)

1. find a good vac port, manifold works better (after the throttle)
2. hook up a length of small rubber hose to the port.
3. put the other end into a gallon of distilled water.
4. use a hose picher adjuster (I don't know what else to call it). They are used on aquarium air hoses to adjust the amount of air. Put it on the hose and close it/pinch off the hose completely.
5. Start the car.
6. open the pincher untill water just starts to flow (I used clear hose).
7. Hold revs up and adjust flow so as not to kill engine.
8. enjoy the smoke/steam cloud out of the exhaust.

If you'r doing this on a rotary make sure you get water to both rotors.

My uncle used an old nitrus plate under his carb on a chevy. He would actually drive around like this with the bottle inside the car and adjust the pincher valve. Poor mans WI!!!

Man it wont hurt it. I do it every other oil change or so but ive never tried it to a piston engine my other car has 12.5 witch is way to high of compression to try it.I fear popped head gaskets
