circle casting in primary port

circle casting in primary port

I just picked up this engine and there is a circle casting in the primary port. I don't think its anything harmful. Anyone know what it is?

I think it's a leftover artifact from the posts that they use to hold the casting cores together. I've seen those plenty of times.
