To change companion flange or not

I’m in the process of installing RX8 4.44 gears into my FD differential housing using a complete gear and pinion set. Comparing the RX7 and RX8 companion flanges, the RX7 flange assembly contains a 2lb weight that the RX8 doesn’t have.
Would there be a benefit to installing the lighter flange assembly or does the heavier RX7 assembly serve a purpose ? We change out our flywheels
for lighter ones, would one see the same benefits by lightening the differential connection ?

Only the weight and dust shield are slightly different. I’m thinking that guys out a ton of work into lightening the rotating assembly, this could be another way to do it.

it would be lighter, but you should expect some odd noises, maybe they used that because of the Torsen? (the service highlights shows it, but they don't mention it)
