ya know, this question has been running around in my head concerning all these ppl that post about not being able to get a carbed engine started. i know cars now-a-days r fuel injected, so there's no need to touch the accelerator pedel to start it. with a carb, u have to press the accelerator at least once, part way, then turn the key. mine barely gets one revolution and it starts right up. it needs that first squirt of fuel into the intake to get it to fire. like when u squirt starting fluid into it.

Have you looked down into the bowls of the carburator? Do you see any gas filling up the bowls? i have the problem of running my car hot, shutting it down and then it will not start without blowing down into the carb to reduce the amount of gas. I know this means that I am running rich, but I have recently learned how to adjust the fuel mixture on my holley and I am running the proper fuel mixture now. I am on the search for a book on my holley. I have model # 4208 and can't find anything locally.

Anyway, I would check the fuel mixture to start off with and then check and be sure the choke is engaging properly. Mine will not engage unless you engage it after you have the key on.

anyone out there have any experience tuning 4 barrel holleys?
thanks

Yea, Holleys are not very easily tuned! First off, But you will need to plug the power valve.

What kind of problems are you trying to fix? What size Holley is a 4208? Not fammiliar with the model numbers? What are you running it on? I have a Holley book and it doesnt tell you too much more than what you can find out yourself on the net and what not.

I think the main problem that I cant get around is the intake velocity since Iam running a 600 on a 12a.
