car not reving ^ 3k/limp mode

Hi Guys

My mate has a rx7 p reg, and has just rebuilt it with a mate,

when first started after a rebuild the car was idling and boosting fine after about 25 mins when the car was hot the car just misfired under throttle and wouldnt go above 3000rpm as if its gone into limp mode, and when shut off it takes abit to get going again

When the car cools down abit and the ecu is reconnected it will fire up sound and boost all the way through the rev range, but give ten mins and it will just do the same, until last nite we couldnt get it to work properly at all so its just stuck in limp mode and will barely rev and it will pop and bang and misfire, weve checked the obvoius ect inlet leaks vacuum leaks and there isnt any,

any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

check the voltage on the ECU for the CAS. You'll need a volt meter and a wiring diagram to fin d out which pins you need to test.

Wouldnt jt be in constant limp mode if the CAS is faulty, last nite we would start it 6 to 10 times and it would start up and rev fine and work until we switshed it off, then we would have to the same process again until it started off limp mode, but you can tell when it starts up properly because the coolent sensor takes longer to come on would this have much to do with it

Are you sure this "limp mode" is not the leading coils failing to fire? I suggest checking all the connections for breaks around the leading coils and CAS.

If it was the leading coils that had gone the problem would be constant, but this will sometimes start on limp mode, then switch it of turn it back over and it will start up sweet and not go into limp mode until uve turned it off again
