75' repu motor swap

Im swaping out my 75' 13B for an 88' 13B. The guy at racing beat said its too much work to swap parts and Im better off with a 84-85 13B. Any comments and what suggestions on what I should do or what I need to buy to swap out parts to make the 88 work. I know I need gaskets etc..

Thanks for your input!

Mike

you need to swap out the front cover from your old motor and the oil pan.

Aside from that, you need to figure out how you want to supply fuel and spark. You wont be able to use the original carb without finding an adaptor for a 6-port to 4-port or maybe find a 6-port lower intake manifold for the carb. I think there are a couple manufacturers that would have something that will work. The other option is the try and use all the stuff from the 88 and fuel inject the REPU... Neither option is really what I would call "easy". The easiest would be a weber carb and the stock ignition from the REPU.

Also, an 84-85 13b would be slightly easier only because it already has the correct oil pan and front cover on it. All the rest of the problems are the same, so I wouldn't worry about finding the older 13b.
