I've been prying at these bastards for almost a week now. I can only get parts to break off at a time. I have every penetrator oil on it, and still no good. I've been using a small flat head which works best. Is there anything else I can try? Can I heat or freeze anything to help this? They were so carbon locked, its not even funny. This rotor spent the night in carb cleaner, is very clean, but the it didnt help the side seals really. Its just 1 rotor too, and it sucks.

 

Try some PB blaster and an Exacto Knife.

 

Have pb, but I'm telling you Im scared for the exacto to break. The damn seals are in there bad...

 

What seems to work best for me is tapping on the end of the exacto knife lightly with a screwdriver or anything similer. It forces the exacto between the seal and the rotor, and they eventually come out.

 

I finally got the bastard! I used my half inch ratche as a hammer, and just tapped them out piece by piece. Now I'm off trying to clean the housings.

 

Glad you got them out. Did the sidce seal springs come out allrite, or were they a PITA also?

 

use a nice chunk of the old seal and clean all the grooves out really well. Carb cleaner works better than PB for cleaning those grooves.

 

soak that **** in some heated seafoam bath. Thats what I did to mine, one face at a time.

 

Springs came out easy. I had them soaking in carb cleaner overnight and the MMO on them after that and I really had to pry them out. This deal really pisses me off as it was supposed to run and now the housings are flaked on one side... They said it was a rebuild, which theres evidence of.

 

I've taken apart motors that ran nice and had good compression, but when disassembled the chrome flaking was bad. Its just the way our motors are. Thats also why some engine builders can get away doing a subpar rebuild and getting away with it for several months. Any pics of the housings?
