Can't get the engine and tranny to mate

Can't get the engine and tranny to mate

Trying to get an S4 13B to hook up to a gslse tranny w/ an fc clutch.

When we line everything up and try to squish the engine and tranny together we still have about a 1/4 inch gap. No amount of wiggling seems to get them to stick together. Can't see anything that would be stopping it from moving. Hope that makes sense (I am cpt_glovals buddy, he is indisposed at the moment)

are the input shafts different diameters, (I think the are) then the pilot bearings might be different sized also.

i was under the impression that 84-91 NA transmissions were interchangeable...

you didn't specify it was an NA, I thought you were putting a turbo engine in. sorry

It should mate up. Only thing is you will need the tailshaft housing from a FC tranny. But the engine side should go together like normal. If you are trying to line them up while the tranny is in the car, it can sometimes be a super PITA.

got the engine in. i just had to break for lunch and come at it fresh.
