Can I use an early 13b front cover on a 13b-re?
Say, from an 85 gsl-se (I think that's where it came from). The engine cover that still has motor mounts in the front to support hte motor. Now, I've tested it and visually it lines up except for the oilpan bolts, which leaves a 1/2" open gap
This isn't a problem as I can make my own oilpan to fit the pattern, however, will everything else line up, and can I use a 13b-re CAS in place of the old one?
Thinking if I'm missing something here...
Thanks!

Depending on what chassis you are putting the engine in yes you can use that front cover. You don't have to fab a oil pan you can use an oil pan for an early 13B like the gsl-se if it works for your application. Matter of fact what body are you putting the engine in? I have a 13BREW motor and have gsl-se front cover and oil pan in my Datsun 1200 fits fine no problems. And if you can afford it Moroso sells an oil pan for 13B motors to fit a number of applications. Look here

And yes you can use the CAS it all lines up. Are you using a standalone computer or the factory ecu & wiring?
