dont be stupid. save and buy a reman from a reputable builder like, me, banzai, rotaryrebuildstore, rx7store, atkins rotary and the list keeps going. If you buy from tiger i guarantee you it will bite you in the *** later. If your going to buy a **** motor you might as well buy one that has a better chance of better internal parts for you rebuild later on.

saying keeps on going " do it right the first time"

do some research before you waste your money. It dont take a Built or ported motor to make the power your looking for.

The only reason I would ever buy an engine from a source like tiger is to get my hands on all the engine peripherals to put the motor in a different car...but even then I would tear down the keg and probably replace it with one from somewhere else.

Japan2LA is about the only place to get an imported rotary with a reputation behind it.

I did a lot of searching myself and refused to buy from a place saying no warranty when they wanted me to spend 1700-2300 for a full setup.

Japan2LA was a good source but I really am not sure I want to stick with a Rotary coming from Corvettes and just having a love for the body of the RX7 I felt I needed to experience a decently setup one and make my choice on direction from there... because of this I did not want to spend 2k on just a motor and possibly not like it or break it..
I found one place offering a 30 Day Full warranty on even Rotary's in writing and paid 1631.12 shipped for my completely tested (Leak down and compression although I doubt they did it correctly... and oil content as well as oil pump) Rotary. They require you to do a decent tune up before installing but nothing most of us would not want to do anyway.

The place is called Engine World USA, I will know next week when the motor arrives if its any good, I would like to play with a TT Rotary before I say no to them based mainly off NA experiences with them. So I am hoping with the warranty in writing that this will be a decent option for purchase.

We have had good luck buying several times from Tiger. Just becarefull as some JDM has major harness differences. Get every possible thing for the motor like flywheel,ps pump ect. Do you research on how much difference between a real JDM motor and the American version.

but why? i really don't get it. there is some decent shops that will sell you a rebuilt engine without a core for just over $2k. you can source all the rest of the long block for a few hundred extra.

I got a motor from a guy.He had bought from Tiger.
I rolled it over to make sure there was at least play in it..yep..no problem.
The problem was it only rolled over so far.
The culprit was at least a good grapefruit size Rust Ball in the rear rotor..
..so.Moral of the Story.,anyone BUT Tiger.
Japan2LA even sells engines to Guys UP here in Canada,so with a reputation like that ,WHY bother with anyone else?

Most of those jdm importers do compression test there rotary engines. If the engine test good, they'll use that as a selling point and rake the cost up on them. If the ebay ad doesn't have compression test results, CHANCES ARE the engine didn't pass.

I bought an s4 engine from some importer in texas. The ad had a video of the compression test. I dropped that engine in and ran it for over a year with no problems and finally sold the car a few months ago. It also was heavily street ported and made great power . Paid 1700 shipped for it.

The point is, I wouldn't buy an engine unless it had compression test results. At the minimum, you'll have a good candidate for a rebuild. At the most, an engine that runs.

most of the good engines have already been cherry picked, some still probably come in but the days of good used engines being more common than not are gone. i wouldn't go to anyone for an imported engine unless they were rotary specialized importers. the rest probably don't even compression test them anymore because there's so few left that they would have nothing to sell to the rotary market, even if it was junk.

i just got 2 from them . opened one and was good. the other one sold it to a customer and is running good ,
I say if you buy it from any engine seller you have a 20% chance will be bad.
so far the best price right now is tiger , everyone else is just trying to tax you . trying to get 100% over the cost is just ridiculous.
dont matter who you get it from that is how it is
