Boiling coolent- is it bad help guys

Here's the problem guys, i was traveling on the high way for about 30 minute coming back home, while i was traveling on the highway the temp was in the middle of the half way point. but when i got home it was a little bit above the halfway mark, so i open the hood and hear coolent boiling. Is it bad for a rx7 to boil like that. i was thinkping that something is wrong with my car but cant seem to figure out what it was. My car is weird because if i was driving on the highway then it would cool down but as soon as i get of the highway it seems to heat up pass half way so i would have went home as fast as i could so i can let the car cool down at home. but like i said the coolent on the car would boil if it went pass the halfway mark. i was wondering if you guys could help me figure out the problem. thanks

Make sure your belts are tight. Is the fan working?

Thats the worst any 7 owner will tell you. I think its time for a rebuild. One of your seals gave way.

Mine did that and it was because the coolant wasn't topped off

Boiling coolant is always bad. Check the fan clutch, waterpump, thermostat and radiator. Check the belts too. Total deflection at the center of the belt betweeen the pulleys should be no more than 1/2". If you have a radiator cap on the radiator, look inside and see how the core looks, If it is getting crudded up, do a flush and fill.

I'm having the exact same problem with the coolant boiling. The thing in my case is that every once in a while, I will hear the coolant boiling and other times it's fine. Other than that, I usually add water everytime I stop. Is my water seal gone and if so, how long can I go without putting money into a rebuild?

try burping the car.. jack it up on one side and lower and jack it up on the other, and then top off the coolant and go for a ride..

your problem could be as simple as replacing the radiator cap. check your radiator cap and make sure there are to nicks or gouges in the rubber gromet. if there is the system will not hold pressure causing the boiling point to go down

good to hear the boiling seems to have gone away same thing happened on the FD i used to have

yeah i would look replacing the fan clutch (attached to the back side of the fan). not sure how to tell if its bad, but at idle it should be moving a substantial amount of air over the motor... as RPMs pick up the clutch should allow the fan to spin slower.
