stat gears

why does everone list different part #'s for the stat gears?
could s5 gears be used in a 12a? they apear to be exactly the same.

No, you need to give them to me for my TII rebuild, lol. I know there is a difference in the older 13B gears, 74-78, the S5 ones may be hardened, not sure.
