Any truth in this?

Hi all. Somebody has told me that an oil cooler from a 2nd Gen. 1988 RX-7 is compatible, and can be used with the 1985 Rx-7 GSL-SE. It has been said that the oil cooler will bolt on perfectly in replacement of the existing oil cooler. Is ther any truth to this? Or, is this false? Thanks guys.

Similar, but I dont think it is an exact fit. I think you have to mod the brackets? Iam not sure, I have never done it, just read about it. Check on mazspeed.com someone their will know. They dont have as much traffic as here but the few that go their know wassup. usually

Yep they are similar. I had to replace mine with a 2nd gen cooler. The brackets just have to be reworked a little. It isn't hard though and those oil coolers are much easier to come by.

i disagreee....other than the mounting brackets, the oil cooler lines are different. the second gen have the banjo fittings on both ends (like the rear fitting on a FB), not straight fittings.
