isnt that a transaxle setup? Are you attempting to adapt a rotary into a honda? On a front wheel drive setup?

That would be incredible. I can only imagine how that thing would fly with a rotary.

Honda is having quite a few problems with the K20 6 speeds. My kid has a 07 civic si and is on his third trans and his friend with a new accord coupe is starting to have problems. I don't know about the other guy but my kid knows how to drive a manual quite well. I am just mentioning this as you can still change your mind if you want.

I'm open to suggestions for different transmissions. I originally thought about a porche box or maybe an old VW bug trans, but honestly I'm not a fan of the long look out back. I'd rather use a FWD trans.

the B series trans would be decent enough for a for a rotary, would it be n/a or boosted? I would think it could handle the job and they are cheap and easy to find...

Have you ever considered going with a W Series, or V160 Supra Transmission? there's different companies that make conversion bell housings for 13b's you could even have a custom bell housing/adapter plate made for a T56 6 Speed which is practically bullet proof.

There's alot of really stout Transmission setups out there. i don't recall many Honda's having good tranny's. my friend has a daily driven S2000 that he never shifts aggressive, or misses gears on, and so far he's on his 3rd... smart kid, well kept car, just glass driveline...

Hmm this threads interesting. I Personaly know/ driven many B18 powered hondas some with gsr trannys some LS, all of them go from high tens (10.98) to high 9's. all on stock trannys. Honda trannys are actually very stout from personal experience. K' series trannys suck. period.

won't work, the B engines, actually all honda motors except the s2000, spin backwards from every other engine on the planet.

I'm not hating or being a smart *** because this is new territory for me as well, but how the hell did this guy do it then?

i'm not a honda guy either, i guess that means the K series spins the right way then?

the race car is a B series, and the trans is on the other side of the engine bay!

DUDE all that fab (they smoothed the irons!) and they used the stock S4 turbo manifold?

I wondered about that too. Just make a nice tubular manifold. I guess when you're a Honda guy, your skill set can only evolve so far.

And that guy says in the link posted that he used a K-series transmission. Though I'd be interested to see where the axles fit into that morass of piping.

Not to threadjack or anything, but I daily drove my S2000 for nearly 3 years, alot of that time being boosted. Never had a tranny problem. A local guy was running deep 11s with his, upgraded diff but stock tranny. They arent the strongest things in the world, but unless abused hold up just fine.

one of our sponsors is a honda shop and compared to us rotary people they do some INTENSE fab work, they will front half the chassis, and do cages and stuff on street cars, but then they don't care if the piston to wall clearance is .003 or .030 @40psi it comes apart every 3-4 minutes either way.

us rotary people spend hours making sure everything under the hood is built to .00002" or tighter tolerances, but the outside of the car hasn't been washed since 1987....

So I take it this is something everyone would be interested in? especially if they don't have to pay 40K for one powered by a Honda. In truth I'll probably finish this then trade for a reasonably built FD, then build another one to torment the corvettes and mustang cobra's locally.
On another note I would like some input on the design and suggestions from everyone. I'm planning on making this road legal. BNR stage 3 turbo S4 engine upgraded injectors and probably the stock computer for starters. I'm tightening up the frame design in solidworks as I get time.

Have you thought about just using a renesis? ~250HP would be plenty for something like that and it would save weight and complexity.

I did think about using a renni. The thing is I've got 5 engines sitting on my shop floor and none of them are renni's. One of our local guys works at the Mazda shop and told me that any bad rennesis goes back to japan for refurbishment. Frankly that sucks for me unless I come across a wrecked RX8, and I have yet to see one of those in the junk yard and I'm looking hard because I want the seats.
