FL 94 stock fd exhaust issue..

I purchased a one owner 24k mile fd bone stock found a GREAT mechanic close to my home he is a professional rx7 sponsored racer. Ortiz racing .. Very nice guy changed my oil and spent 2 hrs with me .. Told me car was to clean and original to over modify
But did suggest a few bolt on items exhaust related...

Remove pre cat for down pipe keep stock main cat and buy racing beat cat back dual tip exhaust .... So I called racing beat and the guy told me Do NOT remove pre cat
Because it wouldn't be good for a stock engine with no computer modifications !!
And basically told me leave both cats in and buy his muffler only which will get me 13hpI notice that pre cat gets very hot in the engine area I would think the down pipe would Help out.... Please clear this up,I don't want to damage the engine..

i would definitely remove the two cats, they clog up and are nothing but trouble, buy a DP either aftermarket or stock, get a cat with a tip for your air pump or highflow cat and buy your racing beat exhaust.

it will flow alot better without those two pre cats, possibly even better fuel economy and will sound great.

i would not listen to the man at racing beat, just for the reason that im pretty sure everyone on this forum including my self has an aftermarket exhaust and has no problems, i even have my stock ECU with a full 3inch from the turbo back exhaust with no issues , it prob is running better then ever.

good luck with your install

removing the precat for a downpipe is fine, i'd suggest the HKS pipe, as the fit, and build quality are OEM like.

if you're running the stock ECU, you should leave the main cat in too. it'll be fast enough, and still quiet, and it won't smell.

muffler is up to you

Ok 2 different opinions sounds like I will start off
With a quality down pipe and muffler leave main
Cat in .. Good point with not smelling I would prefer
Not to have a non smelling car! I will google the hks
Pipe there is someone here selling a slightly used dp for $225 which is coated

Thank you

Ask the guy who told me to keep the main in?
This is new to me I just know I want to keep the car
stock other than helping it run longer and efficiently
I am not a racer and I am most certainly going to
Be the crap out of this car I do know if it breaths better
And runs cooler it's a good thing

Thank u

yes, but stock boost is like 8-10psi, and boost cut on an FD can be like 14psi, so you get a lot of headroom, and it probably wont creep with the main cat, which is nice.

an FC runs 6psi, and has fuel cut a 8, so its easy to hit
