87 T2 factory boost gauge not working??
my factory boost gauge isnt working. what could cause this? i already replaced my boost sensor(ive heard it called a MAP sensor). what else could it be? also, could this cause my car to not make boost, because it wont. it pulls up out of vaccum, hits 0 boost on my autometer boost gauge, and the engine starts to break up. i dont get it, what could cause my factory boost gauge to not work?
make all the hoses between the turbo and intake manifold are tight and not leaking...
since the vacuum part of the gauge is working it's probably not the boost sensor or the hose that goes to it (i've heard of that coming off causing the gauge to malfunction completely, and the engine to blow a few miles later) so it's most likely a lack of boost problem. i had this happen on my isuzu, i didn't have all the hose clamps on the injtercooler hoses on tightly. when off boost, the slight vacuum between the throttle body and the turbo/air filter was enough to suck the hose tight, but under boost it would sputter and run extremely rich because the air meter was reading a ton of airflow, but it was all getting blown out of the leak at the hose and not getting to the engine - running extremely rich.
