86 Oil Pressure Question
I have an 86 non turbo motor in my B2200, and I have a question about oil pressure, I am using 15W40 oil a the moment, running stock oil cooler & oil cooler themo pellet, just installed an atkins thermopellet in the eccentric shaft. When I start the engine cold, I see 60PSI oil pressure at 1300RPM, it never gets above 60PSI even when revved, the oil pressure gradually drops to about 15-20PSI at 1000RPM when the engine oil temp is about 180F (aftermarket oil temp gauge with sensor mounted in stock oil pan location), at normal operating temperature I see 60PSI of oil pressure at 2700RPM, and again it never goes higher. Is this normal? I have verified oil pressures with a mechanical gauge in the stock location, currently running an aftermarket electric gauge.
I have not driven the truck yet as I need to complete a couple odds and ends, like finishing the second half of the exhaust, so I am just idling and revving it in the garage.
