I'm having a problem with the car not idling, originally I thought that I needed a new carb because my cousin told me he thinks it's a 13b carb. I was looking online for a cheaper carb new or used and found that the valves like to go bad in them but I really have no clue if that could be causing my problem, all I know is that it'll start and run so long as I have my foot on the gas and am reving the engine. So I was wondering if anybody has experienced this problem and if anybody knows how to remedy it? If you need more info I'll be checking back regularly so just ask.

welcome to the board.

valves like to go bad???

anyway, before we go any further, are you talking about a stock carbie or aftermarket? a 12A should idle just fine with an older 13B (Rx-4, Cosmo, Pickup) carbie. i can attest to that because i had an old Rx-4 carb at one point on one of my previous Rx-7s.

anyway, if it's an old Nikki or Hitachi, it may simply need rebuilding. check the idle circuits. if it's an aftermarket (Weber, Dell'Orto, Holley, etc.) it may need to be rejetted to suit your engine.

hope that helps.

Vacuum leaks are a possible problem. Perhaps the idle is adjusted too low or some things are clogged up in the carb.
