13B NA S5 7k Rev Start Up, White Smoke, Tach Acting Up
okay, so earlier i posted that i changed my chassis harness on my GTU and then the car wasnt starting, at first i put the battery backwards yes a very stupid mistake, so i took off the battery , charged it then put it correctly, car wasnt starting i noticed i blew a main fuse so i replaced it took off the dash went threw all my fuses and they were 100% so i went threw every plug and bam!!!!! one wasnt connected by the ignition. So i started my fc and damn it revved high and blew out white smoke (didnt have the tach on, and my car never did that prior) so i turned it off the car connected the tach on, started it up again and high *** rev, my tach went up to 7k and down to zero so my buddy told me to wiggle the key a little tach arranged itself and revolutions were at 7k blowing out white smoke, anybody have any idea what could have happened? many have told me it was the ecu??? any ideas? i would greatly appreciate the help thanks - Gabriel

well
hmm the thing is
my engine wasnt doing any of this before i changed the chassis harness
some people have told me i messed up my ECU i am going to check that out in like a hour or two with my buddy's GXL ecu
thanks for helping though
i appreciate it ill take a gasket into consideration because you never know

First, you got a rotary. That means no head, no head gaskets. You have a couple things called oil injectors. All rotaries smoke, unless you have like 3 pre-silencers and a cat. at high RPMs it smokes a lot, a lot of oil being injected. Does it rev up really high, then just die?

no
it just rev's and since i just connected the cluster to see
if the car would start
the rmps shot up to 7 on the tach and back to zero
car was still revving high
then i toggled the key a little
and the tach arranged itself it was a 7k shooting out a ton of white smoke
something i havnt seen done by my car unless i backfire but still its not that much
so yeah

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
Air Flow Meter(AFM)
Try the Mass air flow as well.. it could also be exhaust leak, the throttle cable is stuck. The throttle body is stuck open... bunch of stuff.

Post this up in the second gen section.
My guess? If your engine was in good shape beforehand, it could just be condensation (moisture) in the exhaust that's causing the white smoke. If your engine was in questionable shape, a coolant seal could have went.
As for the 7K startup, I've never heard of that before. Like I said, post this up in the second gen section for better results.

1 of 3 things could cause a rediculously high idle:
-Your BAC valve could be stuck open, although I don't know how high it would actually rev to if fully stuck open----try unplugging it, or plugging the air source (hose) that goes to it. This 1 is a guess on my part.
- you have a vacuum leak somewhere between the throttle body and the engine block itself. Either the manifold gaskets or 1 or more nipples on the manifold or throttle body have come off.
-your throttle cable or throttle body is sticking, Check to make sure it is fully closing.
