13b advice

I will be using a 13B is a kit car project I am working on. I have one mocked-up in the chassis (see photo). It is a 1974 13B from an RX4, but the engine is junk. It is attached to a RX7 5-speed transmission that seems to be OK.

I want to use a 13B, no fuel injection, no computer ignition (will use a distributor) engine. Light mods such as street porting would be OK but I don't need anything with high HP. The car will only weight about 1600 lbs. I'll be making a custom header and exhaust system (stainless), probably run an aftermarket intake manifold with a Holly or Weber type carburetor, and use an electric water pump.

Are "crate" engines available, or does anyone have a suggestion for a good engine re-builder...................any comments or suggestions are appreciated..........Thanks, Kirk

Pineapple racing, lucky 7 racing. Not sure if rotary resurrection is still an option. Location is always a factor but freight is possible.

has this been confirmed yet?

as i was saying, it's probably better to find out what you have in hand first. start simple. does it turn by hand? if so, are you getting any decent signs of life/compression from it?

if not, then you'll have to pull it apart, and if you can't do so, then maybe see if you can find someone knowledgeable enough and local that can. if the engine is truly trash, then at least you now know that you'll be looking for a complete engine to complete your project. if then engine is salvageable, then you will now know what parts you'll be looking for, whether they are hard parts or just a rebuild kit.

as far as shops that can build it for you, there are quite a few places that i would trust in the midwest, but utilize your Regional Forum, and see if you can find somewhere in MN first, if not, then there are places in MI, OH and IN that can get the job done.
