12A to Turbo II gearbox

12A to Turbo II gearbox
My question is this. I have a 12a Bridgport and an 87 turbo II. Has anyone ever tried to bolt a 12A to the turbo II gearbox? Can I use the 12A flywheel. What clutch? I know the engine mounts are different - That is not my question. Just the gearbox aspect.

all you have to do is run a 12a counterweight and a turbo light steel/ aluminum flywheel that way you engine will blance and you can run all the turbo stuff.

Just buy a new clutch and all will bolt up just fine,
ACT, CenterForce, Cluch Masters, Clutch Net, and many others
can make this with little cost or call Derick @ Corksport and tell him that Chris/Me knows what clutch you want and we'll get it made for you, I can allso have it lined with kevlar if you like.
215mm Diam. with Turbo II splines, This is what you need.
Leaste expensive way to use that tranny.
Chris.

RE: Clutch
Thank you for the quick response.
I guess I should go a little more in detail.
I Have the running gear from a first gen race car. bridgeport, delorto, Light weight flywheel. This has all run before hooked up to an 83 gearbox.
I am now trying to get a second gen rally car together for Jan. eventualy I will develope a turbo 13B for teh car but to make the first rally i was going to use the 12A. The front engine mount is no problem.
I figure if I can run the turbo II gearbox than I will not need to fab a mount for a first gen gearbox as well as the motor mount.
Am i correct in taking from your post these things:
1) Mounting bolts gearbox to engine are the same.
2) Flywheel diam. is the same.
3) I would use the same presure plate that I did with the 12A before.
4) distance from the rear of the engine to the face of the flywheel is the same from 12A to 13B.
5) it looks to me that the only difference in the starter is one ear is threaded on the first gen. I could just drill it out.
6) 215mm is the diam of the first gen clutch but the input shaft on the turbo has a different spline. having one made from the needs of each part as you sugested would let me use my current flywheel and presure plate and throw out bearing.
thanks,
