I am not a moron

It would seem that the 88N/A (and prolly most years) are slightly different when it comes to wiring. The color codes that various people have given me have proven incorrect for the wiring of the fuel relay in this car. Some say that the relay is the *only* wire attatched to the steering column, whereas in my car, there are at least twenty wires. Others have told me to splice switches onto the "big blue" wire, the "big blue/red wire", the "little blue/red" wire, and so on. I've spliced switches into all of these and *none* of them control the fuel pump. I'm getting a little frustrated because this has had me running back and forth to Radio Shack, running up and down stairs and across my yard a dozen times, and of course, wiring up *several* switches that control a million different things but not the fuel pump. So, I would just like to know:

In a 1988 N/A car, what wire, in the twist of wires located directly underneath the steering wheel, control the fuel pump? Not turbos from the same year, not N/As from 1987... Not "to the right" of the steering wheel, not "the only wire you can see", and *please*, don't tell me the wrong wire! Because so far, three people who have done this procedure in slightly different models than mine have, and been wrong! And the manuals aren't helping.

Next wire to try: The black/white wire. It's ten gauge. But there's a catch: There's two of them, completely different wires. So which one is which?

I'm really really frustrated here, so someone, just help me. I really, honestly, *appreciate* all the effort from everyone, but searching doesn't cut it, and some people's cars are just different.

If that doesnt do it, let me know...I can take better pics. The relay is usually indicated by the yellow coloring. My car is an 87 Base

Oh crumbs...
You may need to remove some plastic trim to see this. Under the steering column is a big black relay with a yellow 6-pin plug. You can't miss it, it's the only yellow plug down there. There is only 5 wires going into the plug, the middle row is missing one. The the single wire in this middle row (black with white stripe) is the one you want. Cut it and wire your switch into it.
Cakewalk.

Okay, black/white wire... is this wire fairly small, or one of those two really big ones?

Okay, there are. But which one do I use? There's this really small one, too, but I'll disregard it.

Sorry man, I've never owned a 1st Gen, and I've never seen one with a factory EFI 13B over here. A Haynes manual should have the appropriate wiring diagrams. If you can't get an answer from the 1st Gen section, you might just have to figure it out from those. Shouldn't be too hard.
And, by the way, who has the America's Cup these days????
We do! Bring it on in March 2003!
