6'6"... am I in the wrong place?
I've always loved the look of the most recent RX7. I know very little about the rotary engine but i figure what better excuse to learn about this car than to buy one... with that said, Would I fit?
I see that it is a small car but I fit in Supras and 300zx's and since they are direct competition to the RX7 i'm thinkin that i could squeeze in here too.
Are there any tall drivers out there that can voice their opinions?

6'4" with no sunroof and I can wear a ballcap and that's it. With my helmet on I have to stoop into the seat and if my legs were any longer I would be completely uncomfortable.
6'6" is probably too big to spend any length of time in these cars.

Two problems - and both will depend on your posture and preference.
1) hard to squeeze legs under the steering wheel
2) headroom
If you can handle your seat leaned back then I guess the headroom may be ok, but I like to sit up and I barely fit in my R2 at 6'-1"

I'll tell you now, that the non-adjustable steering wheel WILL get in your way, and getting in and out of the car will kill you. One of my friends is 6ft tall, and he ALWAYS cracks his head on my roof when he tries to get into my car (part of that reason is because it's lowered too). If possible, try and get into contact with someone in your area (try the NE section of the forums) with an FD (3rd gen 7), and see if you can either sit, or take a ride in theirs. That's your best bet.

I am the tall end of 6'5", I buy pants 36"-38" in length. so the rest is torso and head. I fit and can be comfortable for long drives, I think my longest single day drive was 14 hours and no more problems with cramping etc. than I would get out of any other car. As has been said, definately no sunroof. That takes at least an inch of headroom away.
Find somebody that will let you sit in the drivers seat on their rx7, there really is more leg room there than in the passenger seat.

hey man. Well, i'm 6' 6" too i have some trouble in my touring FD; but most of my height is in my legs and not my torso.....so my main problem is sliding my right leg under the steering wheel and then kicking it back in place. it sounds painful, but i have to do it with just about every car i get in....... oh well, the price of being tall......
is your height in your legs or torso? i have a good amount of headroom still, but my legs are folded under the dashboard lol.

I'm 6'0" and I have no problems what so ever, but a couple of my taller friends have found it much more comfortable when they replaced the stock driver seat with an aftermarket one. This is because you can eliminate the sliders which lowers the seat a good inch and moves it back further than the stock one. The side benifit is that none of your friends that are shorter than you will be able to drive the car, which is a pest when you have one of these rockets.

I was testing my boost controller one night. I stopped by a friends house to see if he wanted to go for a ride. He is 6' 8". Watching him get into the car was really funny. He eventually wound up sitting with his feet very close to the seat, and his knees way up in the air. He could not extend his legs under the dash.
You better go sit in one before seriously considering buying.

Damn there are some tall ***** here
I think the biggest helper will be a race seat. It can EASILY shave anywhere between 2-4 inches (depending on the seat and padding).
Momo also sells a removable steering wheel hub which would certainly help getting in and out.

i am 6'5", with a kirkey racing seat (nothign but a little aluminum and a little padding and i have lots of room, even with a a roll bar behind the seat. I can wear a helmet and still have about an inch to spare. If you end up with one, i'd suggest an alternative seat.

I'm 6'5"-6'6", and in a base FD I have plenty of room (this is without the sunroof). I can't comfortably drive a camry. A toyota 4runner has great room too. My brother is 6'8" and he has trouble fitting in my FD as a driver because his length is in his legs. He can be a passenger easily enough. I guess my length is above because I only wear a 36 pants.
