386.6 rwhp on stock twins! dynosheet posted
Here is the deal. I dyno tuned my friend's car on stock sequential twin turbo. The car has the following mods:
stock twin turbo running sequential
ported motor with the racing beat street port template
R33 fuel pump
550 cc/min primary and 1300cc/min secondary
HKS twin power
cold air intake
large stock mount IC
downpipe, midpipe, restrictive single tip HKS exhaust
The dynosheet shows the a/f. At some of the runs, the a/f at rpm looks lean like crazy but it's not. The o2 sensor at the tail pipe blows off during the run. The car is still running rich. The boost level is 1.15 kg/cm2 and the intake temp is at 45C measured by power fc.
I believe if I lean it out a little and have him change to a higher flow cat-back exhaust such as the APEX GT, it shouldn't be a problem to break 400rwhp on stock twins. They are just stock, not modified or anything.
I guess it's all about tuning. =) and the best part is I did it with the commander because I forgot to bring my laptop with me. Ha!

We spinned it to 8000rpm. That dip is there because it's still running sequential! =)

I guess so if you want to be very precise about it. The RPM limit on the power fc was set at 8200 so just before the fuel cut.

For one thing, I am the kind of person that wants to learn it the hard way. I don't trust the info floating on the internet until I prove it myself.
If the turbo blows up like that, I will let you know. Just for your info, the car has put down about 8000 miles running at 1.15kg/cm2.
The owner of the car asked me to tune it at 1.35 kg/cm2 when he get the 3 bar map sensor. I know for sure you all want to see the dynosheet of that run. =)

I guess you missed something in my post. I did it with a commander that I forgot to bring my laptop with me so I don't have the maps.
This friend of mine lives pretty far from me so when he gets the 3 bar map sensor and we are going on the dyno again, I will get the maps uploaded to the laptop and share it with you guys.

I'm not worried about your turbos going "Boom!", something else. Anyway, good luck with your tuning. BTW, I agree with you about learning the "Hard way", I know it's the best way!

What's that something else you are referring to? The engine?

Nice numbers Chuck! Just goes to show the stock turbos can put down some numbers with great tuning. I'd imagine the turbos would melt (especially running sequential) at that psi but you've proved that they can withstand some serious heat and power. Impressive! That transition is almost unnoticeable...

how much psi is 1.15 kg/cm2 ? hard to beleive those little hitachis blowing out that much power but it must be great. Thanks for sharing your mods/numbers

Chuck does great work with everything I have seen him produce. From bodykits, to upgraded performance parts, and now tuning. I have never doubted his quality in what he brings to the RX-7 community, so just wanted to give him props again for another achievement
