Hello, what happened to the T51R kai that you bought?? Don't tell me you sold it already. It's a great turbo.

The reason I had 18 PSI for your dyno is from your "400 rwhp" thread where you said you were running 17.5 PSI.

I guess you had the conversion wrong... so I'm assuming that the 1.14 kg/cm2 is correct which gives me 16 PSI
Let's get those units straight people hehehe

I think my numbers are accurate. Go back and look at his dyno and you will see that the torque scale on the left is from 50-450 and the horsepower scale on the right is from 0-450... So the numbers come out a little "off" if you are looking at the wrong side of the Y axis.

Chuck, how are you getting it to read 1.2??? I've tried and mine caps at 1.15!!! I got a 22psi spike on my gauge when trying to tune my boost controller and it only showed 1.15. I know for a fact mine wont go over 1.15 as I've tried. Also I dynoed at 1.14, I leave it there so I know I'm not maxing out the map sensor. On my autometer gauge pluged into the uim I'm getting between 17-18psi on the gauge when my PFC says 1.14
You might want to double check everything with a machanical gauge!!!! It never hurts to double check.
Also, if you dont mind sharing what timing are you running at peak tq? Was this on pump or race fuel?
Also, is this a Dynojet?
Those are some nice numbers!!!!

Well Im sure impressed. Please tell us more. Care to share more info on your tuning strategy? Have any tricks in timing? what split are you running? What' s your target AFR for say each 1000 RPM?

Wargasm: No...no....17.5...18psi is ok...
PowerFC did read ~1.14 kg/cm2 but it's not accurate.... boost gauge is higher(17.5)...HKS EVC IV also reflected this...
I thinks Steph is seeing the same difference as I am...
My PowerFC also maxes @ 1.15kg/cm2....and stock map sensor also maxes out.

Hello Stephen, the power FC on my car and on my friend's car are the version 2.0. Maybe that's why. I didn't do anything to the power fc to make it read 1.2 kg/cm2. I also varified with my friend again and he told me he sees 1.15kg/cm2 on his boost gauge. I tried it myself accidentally by running 1.7kg/cm2 and the power fc showed 1.2kg/cm2.
The gas was a mixed of 3/4 91 octane and 1/4 100 octaneERC unleaded.
I did it with a commander so I don't have the map in front of me. Next time when we try to run 19 psi, I will use the datalogit and save the maps.
Yes, it's a dynojet. The 4 wheel one but of course we only use the rear roller. =)

I am not a professinal tuner like some of the guys out there. I am just learning by doing it. But I do have a procedure that I follow.
1. I tune it from rich to lean. First I will enrich the fuel map and then slowly lean it out to the right a/f.
2. When the a/f looks all ok, I will look for dips on the dyno graph. Different rpm requires different a/f to make most power.
3. The last thing I change is the ignition timing.
4. Do a few runs to make sure you get the about the same hp and a/f every run. Sometimes a/f changes even you didn't change the map.
Just make sure all the a/f and timing are within safe range when you tune. Don't get too crazy on it. I tune conservatively because I know a few extra HP is not worth the whole engine rebuild or turbo.
The a/f is shown on the dynosheet at the bottom. I like to tune it to be about 10.5 to low 11.
I will get the maps uploaded to my laptop when I tune his car again running 19 psi. I did the car about 1 month ago so I don't remember all the timing details but it's nothing crazy though.
