Question Boost Pills

As some of you may have read I am going to tackle a silicone hose job by myself. I need to know what size the pills are in the vacuum lines. I have no idea what lines they are in but when I find one I would like to replace it with a brand new one instead of re using the old one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers
(87 turbo)

The "pills" are tiny. They are white, about 1/4" long with a pin hole in the middle of them.
I found mine in the boost sensor line. Actually the line had a little white dot on it where it was located.
Just pinch it with your fingers until you find it.
There is an actual Mazda part number on this. I had it once and lost it! They call it an "orifice".

Yeah....what he said. There is only the one pill....the rest are just plain vac. lines.

Well if there is only the one pill then I wont worry about it I will just stuff it in the new hose. I thought I might be dealing with 5 or 6 of the things.

Hmmm since I plan on checking every hose for one I am not worried about finding them but it really was better when there was only 1.

You can go to most any autoparts store and buy a "vacume restrictor" connector ... much easier then waiting for mazda to get one for you (cheaper too) .. It looks like a little vac line connector, except one line has a little orrifice to restrict flow ..

Mark Hallam. On my 87 n/a and 87turbo, I have a orfice in the line from boost sensor to the intake. I have done a search on this site using the keyword *pill* and found references to the Mazda part number for the orfice(pill). So I'm saying you can find the part number by doing a search on this site. Just a thought. Also the hose on the car has a dot of yellow on one end and blue on the other, my car at least. No telling what these decade old cars have had done to them in the past. Can't swear they came like that from the factory. EDIT...I just did a quick search and under *part # on boost pills* I found the part number PN 8931-13-986. Lots of items under *pill* just need to ignore ist and 3rd gen posts. Just trying to help out.

Talking

Hey rx7_turbo2,

I tried running my '87 TII without the pill in my boost sensor vacuum line - it surged and sputtered so bad I thought I had blown my engine. Believe me, it is NOT an option. Just thought I'd mention that. Have fun!

If you have a FCD, it is an option. You don't need no stinking Pills!

But if you lose the pill, can you just shove a tic tac or a chisled down gobstopper in there?
