AC S7 invision gauges

Ok so I got my new gauges today, does anyone know where to install the oil pressure sender? They are electric gauges. I also have a AC S7 invision gauge for the water temp, does anyone know where I install the temp sensor? any help will be appreciated due to fact that Ive never installed gauges before.

Thanx in advance,

chris

ok so I figured out where the new sender goes for the oil pressure gauge, it replaces the old stock one....duh. Anyways, now where would the new water temp sensor go?

This has been debated many times but most agree it needs to go in the water pump housing which is below the Thermostat housing. Some need to be redrilled and tapped not sure what the sensor looks like because I havent opened my S7s yet I got 5 of them.

stock locations work best for temperature readings, S4 engines do require drilling and tapping to fit 1/8" NPT sender units though they fit fine in S5/S6 engines. the reason being that the rear of the engine runs the hottest and is where you should be monitoring your temps.

I searched for "temp sensor location":

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525598

As for the oil pressure, you have two choices:

1. Buy a filter pedistal that is tapped for gauges. Racing Beat, Mazdatrix and Speed Machine all sell them. They replace the stock pedistal and have two 1/8" NPT ports in them for your gauge sensors.

2. Replace the stock sender. You can replace the stock sender by using a 1/8" BSP to 1/8" NPT adapter (available at your local hydraulic shop). Remember, the block side is 1/8" British Pipe Thread (BSP) which is NOT NPT.

3. Install a T fitting in the stock sender location so you can run the stock sender and your aftermarket one to avoid having a dead gauge on the dash.

S4 irons are no where near a 1/8" anything thread, even the head of a 1/8" NPT sensor cannot pass the stock S4 threaded iron. S5 and S6 are BPT which can just be retapped to fit 1/8" NPT easily enough.

as for the oil pressure/temps, i would pick up one of the oil filter pedestals out there that are pre drilled and tapped to accept a 1/8" NPT sensor.

i forget what size bit you will need for 1/8" NPT, the bit should probably say on it what size bit to use.

Use a 11/32 bit for 1/8" NPT. Or an "R" letter bit.

thanx guys!! ok further looking and reading, mazdatrix offer a oil filter tower with 2-1/8" holes, which I need for both gauges, but Mazdatrix says the hole are for oil pressure/oil temp. As for the water temp gauge this wont work, right? I guess I could find a different place for the W/T but will it be an accurate temp in the other location stated in the up above post?

another reason for using the oil filter pedestal is there is no tapping required, drilling into the cooling system won't hurt it much with the metal debris but with the oil system even a tiny burr of metal can destroy the engine.

ok so I went down in the basement and took the stock oil pressure sender off of my spare s4 motor, guess what its 1/8" thread. As for the stock water temp sensor its not 1/8" thread(smaller) so now I will have to find other means for the new W/T sensor. FYI: s4 oil pressure sender is 1/8" thread also. Unfortunately, the O/P sender that came with the gauge is not long enough for replacement of the stock O/P sender so I will have to buy an oil filter adapter after all.

nice, how high does it make the filter off the motor? how long did it take to receive from them? I hear it take forever to receive stuff.

Daten...
What gauges are you using... Brand, model, electic or mech., etc...
I am going to buy that pedestal and want to make sure the fittings and length on the senders of the gauges I get will work...

the stock oil pressure sender isn't NPT but it is close, you could probably thread an NPT thread into it if you force it but be careful not to snap off the brittle brass threads that most sensors use.
