about some lowering springs

Ah, how I love putting money into this car

Anyway, got some new 60 series tires and now it looks a little off and I was hoping for some good places to buy 1.0 inch lowering springs.
I was wondering about how much I will have to pay for a set of 4

Thanks in advance

you could just cut your springs, but I don't know how safe that is. There are a few people who have done this, and they sound ok... I dunno though...

cutting springs can be very dangerous and detrimental to the performance of the spring. Instead I highly recommend buying either lowering springs or performance springs such as Eibach.

Eibach, Suspension Techniques, Racing Beat and Tokico are the only ones that I know about, and that was in just the order that I remembered them, so I'm not saying any is better than the other. I used the RB springs a few years back, and to be honest, I didn't REALLY notice a difference in the car's stance or ultimate performance, but the springs were the only things I changed, so ... it was probably not an optimal setup.

you should be able them anywhere from $200-320 for the set of 4 ... don't know the best place to buy 'em ...

maybe try www.nopi.com and see what they're prices are like

RB springs/Tokico blues with 0 miles on them in the pictures.

I think I'd like the back to be lower, however I still have only put like 5 miles on them, so maybe they will compress with driving like my ST springs did on the FC

TMC cs-400 will lower your car an inch, are the springs used for Spec 7 racing and costs $139 for all four.

Such a deal...

hey, speaking of which, is the front suspension on a '19 GS have more travel than the back? when I jacked one side of my car off the ground today, the back fully extended is like 4" higher off the ground than the front. (the front is almost touching, and the back is like 5" off the ground) Is this normal?

Jeff

Thats normal, a solid axle rear/IFS car will do that. If you were to jack one side of an FC up, both wheels on one side would travel roughly the same due to it having 4 wheel independent suspension.

What are TMC cs-400? I have never heard of them. Where do you buy them? Also, anyone using gforce products? This is the stuff Paw Yaul recommends- http://www.gforceengineering.net/

Keep in mind that 1" lowering springs will probably RAISE your car. 1" lower means 1" lower versus brand-new ride height. The springs have had at least 17 years to settle. Mine is so low with stock springs that the tires are about even with the fender lips.

Also keep in mind that the suspension not only loses travel when you lower, but the rear suspension likes to bind in corners when it's lower than stock ride height. This is quite bad for handling, unless you like uncontrolled snap-oversteer.

My car is the same way, the front is way low! When I jack up the car to put jack stands under it the tires dont even leave the ground..i supposed thats because my shocks are crap. Even though...thing still handles better than any other car I know

I recently replaced mine with Eibach Springs, Tokico Illumina 5 ways, New Poly bushings, and a Racing Beat Front Sway Bar.

I am about 3/4" to 1" higher than it was with the stock (and tired) suspension.

Rides muuuuch better (no more bottoming out) and looks better.

Oh, Here's my Tokico Illumina Mod, to adjust the rear shocks on a moment's notice, without having to take out the rear panels. I am going to cover them with a similar painted grommet in the future.

those racinbeat springs look like crap. Im sure they perform well but I am looking to get the edge of my tire next to the fender lip. I CANT STAND FENDER GAP.

Look at AJC13Bs 7 he has the perfect example of what I want my suspension to do.

Say Directfreak....how much did all that setup cost you? I am looking to so something similar to the Mound, it also has tired 18 year old suspension. Was looking at nearly the same components...how is the ride, as well as the handling? What Bushings did you get eh?

Right on.

Hey AZ,
Here are a couple firms that sells the TMC springs.http://www.rotaryperformance.com/pages/page19.html

or

http://www.daveturner.com/rx-7.html

I picked up Jim Susko's set up manual and it is great. I highly recommend it. All he parts I have picked up from Jim have been RIGHT ON, I have to recommend that as well.

Good luck.

thanks for the advice, but 3 questions (fyi the springs where changed at 67k)

1. so if i removed the springs now and they are lower than the "lowered" springs, wouldn't that help the preformance?

2. about how long does it take if you do it yourself?

3. are the tmc's at rotoraryperformance.com for all 4?

Thanks Kill No Cone, Has anyone have any info on the coil over's that Jim Susko's has listed on his site? I have e-mailed him a couple times about his new header that is comming out later this year, he is a real nice and smart guy, but forgot about asking about the coil-overs
