TB Mod?
yeah, I tried the search but nothing good came up. Is this something I can do with simple tools and a link would be nice if anyone has one handy. Thanks guys

I dunno man. I just did the TB mod and now I have to go buy a new throttle body, because it runs like major ***. It doesn't dle at all. No noticeable inprovment. I would probably only suggest it as a " I have done everything else possible" Probably doesn't hlp that I do not have any more mods beside ported manifolds. But thats my opinion.

Your Ported Manifolds should compliment the TB Mod you did. Yet you have no Idle?

Did the mod on mine, I havent had any problems and the motor seemed more responsive afterwards. Only downside is that I need to give it gas when warming from a cold start for about 15 seconds.

what exactly is the point of the TB mod? i know basicly how its done and what it envolves, but i dont really know why people do it. sorry if thats a dumb question.

I did it and dont really know if I gained any HP, but throttle response was amazingly improved. Now if I am cruising at 3K in 2nd gear and blip the throttle the motor follows suit just as I touch the pedal with no gap between my actions and the cars response. Do it correctly by following the instructions closely, and you will love it.

No I got the TPS adjusted. The goddamn idle adjustment screw on top of the throttle body does not do **** any more. I dunno I Pretty much did what everyone else does. I think my car just hates me and tries to **** with me all the time. Maybe I need to drive it off a cliff, that will teach it.

i knew i forgot to do something. YES i did plug the holes. I used some 7/16 set screws. I dunno, my car just sucks sometimes. I blew my headlights last night because my altenator is over charging.

when i had the tb mod on my car i felt a very noticeable differnce but i hated when you started it you had to keep it up and running for a little bit til it was warm enough to drive

For a little bit, Yeah till it is all the way warm. I am thinking of just bolting the temp thingy back up. For a whle I had just taken out the butterfly plates, and it would still high idle. Now like I said it will not idle until it is all the way warm.

Geez, you guys can't read?  It's all in the write-up.
And for the record, I do NOT recommend this for NA's - the write-up is for turbos only, and I cannot guarantee positive results for NA owners.

The downsides outweigh the benefits for an NA.
The flow potential in a turbo engine is a lot greater than an NA engine.
The low-RPM "hiccup" can become a major pain-in-the-*** on a street driven FC.

how come only an NA will hiccup and is this just the 'give it gas for a few seconds while it's cold" thing. Could I just adjust the idle to about 1000 and play w the mixture screw to get it to idle??

I only ask since I have a modded TB ready to go in that I got for nothing, plates removed and plugged w JB weld (nicely smoothed over the JB weld on the inside so the holes look hidden). If I swap everything from my old TB over to this one (including TPS w/o messing w it since it runs great now) will I run into these reliabilty problems? I'm curious since I'm running outta stuff to do to the car

I had the ported tb on my n/a. No hiccup and improved throttle response. I still had the thermo wax pellet too. Easy to keep if you know how. No negatives. A benefit is a benefit whether it is on a turbo car or not. Air still flows in the same direction and therfore acts the same whether it is under a vacuum or pressure. I believe someone here (not me) would consider this mod undoing years of research and millions of dollars that Mazda engineers spent in designing it this way! Not naming anyone of course.
