What's A Good Injector Cleaner??
What's A Good Injector Cleaner??
Yeah I was just wondering what brand is good when it comes to cleaning the injectors because on start up the rpms go to about 1k then it drops down to 0 and that's wen the car just dies. I'm thinking that not enough fuel is going in, and I want to clean my injectors. Thanks for any help.
I've put seafoam into my car several times, gas tank for fuel and vacume line for everything else. It hasn't hurt anything so far and it works miricles, follow the directions for cleaning out carbon and the car smokes like a badass for a few min when your done. Although I cant emagine its helping my already old cloged cats...

There are plenty of good FI cleaners.
Gumout Regane
BG44k
B12 Chemtool
Seafoam
Marvel Mystery
Lucas
Amsoil
Redline
Schaeffers
3m
VentilSauber
Neutra
SoyUltra
I've used all of the above in the past and have not had ANY fueling problems in any of my cars, and cars that I service. Just read the directions, and add the bottle while at the gas station during a complete fillup. Also, if the fuel filter has 30k or more miles, REPLACE IT. I am also a firm believer that a bottle at an interval(like every 3-4 months or when you change your oil) can prevent certain problems from beginning.

Subaru guys swear by seafoam. Cleans up the tapping lash adjusters beautifully.
If your injectors are really bad, Cruzin Performance & RC Engineering are some companies that come to mind that do professional, out-of-car injector cleaning/blueprinting. You may also be able to find a local shop.
HOWEVER, I don't think your problem is clogged injectors. And if it is clogged injectors, they're so bad that running some stuff through the tank won't help a bit. If it fires up and immediately dies, start your troubleshooting with fuel pressure & the airflow meter. If the fuel lines are hooked up backwards, the engine will start & die like that, and if the airflow meter is not hooked up or has gone bad, the engine will start & die. A totally clogged fuel filter would also cause this, but it would be very difficult to get a filter clogged that badly.

The MAZDA corp recommends the following:
Subject:
FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER
DESCRIPTION
To improve fuel injection performance, Mazda has tested and approved a highly effective FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER. The kit and cleaner is recommended for all Mazda fuel injection systems. Mazda's Fuel Injector Cleaner uses a chemical "reducing agent" rather than the common solvent used in the typical aftermarket cleaners. As a result, in tests against aftermarket competitors, Mazda's cleaner outperformed all others and was the only one to restore the fuel injector's flow rate to the original factory specifications.
Dirty fuel injectors are an increasing common problem. Many cases are due to gasoline deposits such as gum, resin and sulfur. These deposits can cause stalling, difficult starting, rough idle and diminished power.

Never used it my self. The above was from a Trouble Shooting Bulletin.

see, when a company proclaims there's is best by tests, that doesnt sway me, when an independant company w/ no bias does the same tests, thats what i go by. anyone care to run a couple tests?!
It figures that there's a whole thread full of "this cleaner works well" "does it work on rotaries?" "lots of people swear by this cleaner, even on this forum" "I'll use it when I find out it's good for rotaries" "There's this cleaner that MAZDA RECOMMENDS" "I don't believe in recommendations."

Remove them, and send them to an injection shop to be cleaned. Generally costs about $20 per injector. You will NEVER get them clean with chemical cleaners added to the fuel.

Edit: No, seriously... Hailers... how did you get from my first post that I was putting down Mazda's recommendation?
Use Chevron Techron or Valvoline injector cleaner. There are others that work well. The ones mentioned here are good products that work.
Follow the instructions.
An in the tank cleaner will get the injectors about 75-80% clean if extermely dirty. An on the rail type system will get about 85-90% of the dirt.
The best is a complete clean off the car with a flow check and match.
