I was looking up how to pull codes on my 88 Turbo, and I realized you can't do it the "easy" way on the S4's no check engine light. So I was searching the web and came across this web page.

A very well done description of how to make a code puller for the S4's. I ran down to Radio shack, 30 minutes & 11 dollars later I had my code puller. Alot of you prolly alrerady know about this .. but I didn't so I thought I would share it with those who don't.

 

I made one about a year ago. It works great, and I highly advise it to anyone. Only costs a few bucks too.

 

You can use that to set your TPS too.

 

No ****? No modifacations? its all ready to do the TPS also? what color wires do I plug into?

 

There is a green plug near the part of the harness that goes to the solenoid rack. Plug your code puller into it (I cant remember which one is ground though). If both the lights comeon, turn it clockwise. If neither of them come on, go the other way. You want it to just barely turn one of the lights off.

I use mine to set it because I broke the **** out of my multimeter...

 

i wired mine up on the dash-works great,if the ecu throws any codes,i know about it right away.

I have mine permanently mounted in the warning light cluster. The two left-most spaces on mine were blank (JDM cars don't have a cooling fan light and convertibles don't have a hatch light), so I drilled two holes there and used two 12V panel-mount LED's. Behind the plastic cover, you can't see then unless they light up.

 

Does anyone know off hand what color the wires are that you plug into to adjust the TPS on a 88 Turbo. I did a search and checked a couple web pages.. but found nothing definate. I went and hooked it up the way it seemed like it would work, but I got no lights .. I pushed to WOT and still no lights.. My IC was still on so I could not adjust the screw to see if that gave me lights. I will pop off the IC to check that out tommorow, but I would like to make sure I have it plugged in right before I fug with the screw.


P.S. 2 data wires and 1 12V or Ground wire (not really sure if its a ground or 12V pull.. I just followed the above listed web page directions for where to plug it in to pull codes). Thats how my led's are setup.

Next to the Vacuum Spider on a 88 TII. Near where the solniods hook up.
