Well my buddys gen 2 NA RX7 is squealing pretty loudly at 5000rpm and above, I dont know what it is, and am not familiar with rotaries, any common things?

belts is the only thing I can think of that would squeal.

 

What kind of squealing? Could be something as simple as one of the drive belts (alternator, ac, ps, air pump)needs to be changed. Get some "Belt Dressing" from the auto parts store and spray them on the pulley side. If they're the problem, this stuff will stop it for a while. Could also be that one of the belts is loose and needs tightening.

 

Is it a squeel or more like a hiss sound? i had a high mileage altima (200,000miles) and right before i got rid of it, when ever you took it into the R's, it would hiss, Almost sounded like a turbo or somthing. I think it was the waterpump dieing.
