Question Jspec got here and suprise its an auto, counterweight question.

I was expecting the engine to be a manual and hadn't researched anything about using an engine that had an auto tranny in it on my car that has a manual. Im using the na transmisson so Im trying to get the flywheel off that and on the new TII engine, do I need to swap anything else or mess with the counterweights to make it work? Also does anyone have any tricks for getting the flywheel off? I got the one off the TII but the na one is stuck and I cant even get it off with a puller! Thanks for all help.

Can't get it off with a puller....

I've found that a couple wacks with a hand sledge knocks them loose.

Since you already have the counter weight, I'd suggest now is the time to upgrade to a lightened steel flywheel.

So long as your Jspec is of the same vintage as your T2 (S4 or S5), your stock flywheel should be fine.

Get an air impact wrench and a 2 1/8" socket. Get the nut off the easy way and then tap at the flywheel from various points, try to go directly across from the last hit, while moving around still.

That looks confusing.....

Hit it once, go across hit again, move to new point, hit, directly across hit, etc. etc.

Don't forget to get yourself a spigot bearing too, the automatics didn't have one.

What is this counter weight and where is it located. I pulled my flywheel recently (manual) but did not see any "counter weight".

counterweight is built into the stock flywheel. on automatics, u get a counter weight, and when u buy most aftermarket flywheels, u get a coutnerwieght.

I'm 90% sure that you can't use the stock N/A flywheel with the TurboII engine.. or maybe it's the transmission...

Anyhow.. Since you've already got the counterweight, does it have the 6 bolt holes for the aftermarket flywheel to bolt into? If so, get one of those.

The spigot bearing is the little needle roller bearing in the end of the eccentric shaft. It centres the input shaft of your g/box. Without it the input shaft bearing will wear prematurely. Don't forget the little dust seal aswell which stops clutch dust buggering the needle roller
