I need to know what everyones advice is on my 7. Will my setup pass emmisions?

First, I am in Chicago and as far as I know there is no visual inspection. I have a stock 13B 6 port in a 85 GS. I will be running a Dellorto with it's stock settings from RB and thier manifold. I have a stock exhaust all the way back. I am looking to hook the air pump to to the cats. I have no ACV. The cats are "new" as far as I know and so is the muffler.

What do you think? Will I pass? Are there any tricks that I could do to lower my numbers?

As I was writing this I thought of an idea, what if you were to put a larger pully on the air pump and pump more air in to you cats? Would it work. More air less % of exhaust.

Or two air pumps, one right before the cats that is hooked up backwards to suck air out and one pumping air into the cats to burn fuel and lean out the exhaust gases. You could fill the testing center with exhaust fumes and still pass with good numbers.

How about 2 cats (6 stock cats) with the air pump pumping air in two both of them? There might be room between the stock cats and the muffler.

I know these ideaa are way out there but I am just thinking out loaud and trying to make sure I don't fail.

You should really hook that pipe from the air pump back to the cats because they need that extra oxygen in order to convert CO to CO2, etc, etc...

I have no smog check-ups here

 

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about emmissions and rx-7s (he's owned 8 of them)

He said that when he had to get emissions tested, on the day, with a low tank of gas, he would pour a large amount of HEAT into the gastank.

I have never heard of heat but I think it is similar to seafoam and those kinds of products.
He said that his emissions were cleaner than the ambient air at times.

 

Plumbing the airpump to the cat has worked for me before. just make sure that you carb is set corrrectly. If not, you will not pass.

 

Can you go into more detail on what you mean by "set correctly"?

Find someone with a stock GS with your paint color and put your plates on it and test it there. Then put the plates back on your car. HE HE..just kidding, but thats what I might do if I have to pass. That or put a stock engine in with all stock junk and take it out after the stupid test that the testers realize you'll do anyway after its over.
