springs in multiswitch??? Help!!!
I took my multiswitch apart to clean it because of my recent headlight problems. I've managed to pretty much get it back together except for two small springs that look like they control the forward-backward motion of the light switch (flash brights; brights on) right now the switch just flops back and forth. Where o where do these two small springs go???????

LOL, It's been awhile since I had mine apart but I can tell you they're a bitch to get back in even when you do figure out where they go. And don't lose one under the seat like I did. edit- Hang on, if I remember correctly there were two little steel bearings in there as well and the springs go behind those. Do you still have the bearings?

yeah, the bearings go underneath the center cap held down by the small screw. The springs go in there?
Here is the latest. I have the headlights working. Unfortunately they will not turn off unless the pull the brown wire coupler on the switch. When I want headlights again, I have to put it back on. This would not be such a bad temporary thing except for the fact I had to pull a foot of wiring harness through the dash to lay my switches in front of the gearshift, since the plug is inaccesible when its on the steering column.
Revhead if you can remember anything else at all about the springs I would be grateful. This ended up turning into an all day job when I was expecting to spend maybe an hour on it, then fix two other things with my car

Um yeah, the springs sit in a recess and the bearings go on top. The springs force the bearings against some sort of a groove which is what locks the switch into the two different positions. LOL, did that make any sense?

ok, here is what I have. There is a large steel bearing that sits in a groove. This bearing locks the switch into either center or left and right turn signal. There is also a small box atop the unit with a srew. Beneath this is a white thing that has two very small bearing on it. It move when you move the switch frontward and backward, and I don't see how the springs fit in there. In fact I didn't take this apart until after the springs fell out. So I think we might be talking about two different things. I'll keep trying though; its getting too dark and cold to work on it anymore tonite.
